Intent to Opt Out of Homestead Exemption
The Mayor and Council of the Town of Newborn intends to opt out of the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption for the Town of Newborn. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this matter to be held at 4224 Highway 142 (Newborn Town Hall) on Monday, February 3rd at 6:30PM.
Times and places of additional public hearings on this matter will be held at 4224 Highway 142 (Newborn Town Hall) on Friday, February 14th at 10AM and
Monday, February 24th at 6:30PM

Newton County Disaster Recovery Center to Open
A FEMA disaster recovery center will open Thursday Feb. 2 in Newton County to provide one-on-one assistance to people directly affected by the Jan. 12 severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes. Click here for full information.

Work sessions
Work sessions will be scheduled as needed. Changes to the regularly posted meeting schedule and specially called meetings shall be posted by Newborn’s Town Clerk as early as possible to allow citizens time to plan accordingly.

Newton County folks can now sign up for Emergency Notifications through CODE RED. These notifications include tornado warnings, flash flood warnings, and severe thunderstorm warnings.
