Notice of Election Date, Qualifying Fees, Dates, and Hours

Pursuant to O.C.G.A § 21-2-131 (a) (1)(A) notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, a General Election will be held at Newborn Town Hall, 4224 Hwy 142, Newborn, Georgia for the election of Mayor and Council persons to fill Post 3 and 4 (4-year term).

Qualifying fees have been set at $30.00 for Mayor and $25.00 for each Council Post.
Qualifying will be held at Newborn Town Hall, 4224 Hwy 142.

Mayor (4-year term) - $30.00
Council Post 3 (4-year term) - $25.00
Council Post 4 (4-year term) - $25.00

To qualify for the above offices a Declaration of Candidacy must be filed in the office of the Town of Newborn no earlier than 8:30 A.M. on Monday, August 18th, 2025 and no later than 4:30 P.M. on Wednesday August 20th, 2025.

The Mayor and Council of the Town of Newborn intends to opt out of the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption for the Town of Newborn. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this matter to be held at 4224 Highway 142 (Newborn Town Hall) on Monday, February 3rd at 6:30PM.

Times and places of additional public hearings on this matter will be held at 4224 Highway 142 (Newborn Town Hall) on Friday, February 14th at 10AM and

Monday, February 24th at 6:30PM

A FEMA disaster recovery center will open Thursday Feb. 2 in Newton County to provide one-on-one assistance to people directly affected by the Jan. 12 severe storms, straight-line winds and tornadoes. Click here for full information.
